Anyone who has called the NCCAP office has most likely spoken to Audrey on occassion.  You would remember speaking to Audrey as she is the nicest person you'll ever meet, even if it is only by telephone.  This year is a big year for Audrey - she has a special birthday in April and will also be celebrating her 20th year working in the NCCAP office.
We are inviting all of membership to send special greetings to Audrey!  She loves getting mail and would be so pleased to receive cards from the people she has served this many years.

NCCAP Executive Board Update

~The NCCAP Board is working steadily on preparations for the 2015 Symposium.  There will be a number of vendors sharing books and materials for the activity professionals, a silent auction with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund and a few surprises along the way.  Our goal is to not only offer excellent educational opportunities but a positive experience for activity professionals to meet and celebrate the value of our service.
~The Annual Board meeting is also a part of the NCCAP Symposium and it will be recorded and posted on You Tube for those who cannot attend.  The Executive Director, President and Treasurer's annual reports are included in the Spring Issue of NCCAP News.  The Board reports will also be posted on the NCCAP site in the near future.
~ If you have any questions or suggestions for the board, feel free to contact Debbie Hommel, President.

Weekly Chats Continue through May

The weekly chat season will be taking a summer break at the end May.  The year has been a great success with interesting sessions and a beautiful, new chat room.    We will continue to offer weekly chats on Wednesday evenings at 8 PM EST through May 20th.
The chats are open to everyone and you may participate with the intent to gain an hour or just participate for added knowledge.  If you are planning to submit for an approved continuing education hour, you must attend the entire chat, complete the chat form and submit to NCCAP with a ten dollar fee.  The chat schedule is as follows:
April  22nd    Michelle Olsen: Nature and Creativity in Daily Practice
April 29th   Sue Orce-Interviews: How and to What Benefit?
May 6th    Murv Delpino- How Senior Organizations Impact your role as an Activity Professional
May 13th    Nancy Richards-AAA-Adaptations that Make Activities Achievable.
May 20th   last chat-Sulekha Zaug-TBA

Linda Redhead, Special Projects Chairperson, is recruiting chat presenters for the 2015-16 season.  If you would like to be a chat presenter, you need to submit a topic, learning objectives and a brief summary of your proposed topic.  Once approved and you present/lead your chat, you would receive a two hour continuing education credit.  If interested, please contact Linda Redhead.

NCCAP News - Spring Issue Available

The Spring issue of the NCCAP News is attached to this email or can be found on the NCCAP site. There is much helpful information in this issue - including the Executive Director, President and Treasurer's annual reports.  There is an article about getting to know Jane Anderson, NCCAP's journey into the social media world as well as an informative article on resident abuse.  Check it out today!  If you are interesting in submitting an article for the newsletter, please contact info@nccap.org

Independent Living Staff Survey

The STEP for LIFE project seeks to establish the feasibility of creating a physical activity program for senior adults residing in Independent Living Facilities (ILF) using interactive web-enabled television. It is asking for the assistance of ILF Directors, Administrators, and Activity Coordinators to take a 10-minute survey to help better understand how physical activity is adopted in ILFs, the factors influencing administrators in decision-making for exercise promotion, current programming efforts, interest and attendance by residents, tools that would assist with programs, and how this delivery option could meet resident and organizational needs. Survey participants will receive a $30 Amazon credit for their time. If you are an ILF Director, Administrator, or Activity Coordinator (or professional equivalent) and are interested in participating, please follow this survey link: https://questionpro.com/t/ALLNHZSMbc
